Work Works!!
This workshop featuring George V. Nostrand will demonstrate how work helps people with mental illness and substance abuse with their recovery. George has experienced it first had. Although he has worked in the field as a professional for thirteen years, he once struggled himself to come to terms with his illness and recovery. Work was one of the most important elements to helping him regain self-confidence, feel worthy again, and provide direction for him to move in. For the last twelve years he has advocated for work being included in everyone’s plan for recovery and has brought the topic of work for people with mental illness to a national forefront. This presentation draws from three of his popular trainings and features the documentary he directed by the same name. Work Incentives available through the Social Security Administration will also be discussed.
